Cellists of all ages and abilities are welcome!
My teaching philosophy is very much based in positive reinforcement. We feel most motivated to learn and have the best mindset for learning when we feel we are not being judged, that mistakes are ok, and that we are engaging in this activity because we enjoy the process. I always ask my students what their goals are and if there are any particular pieces they want to work on now or in the future, and we figure out a plan to reach those goals. I always include music theory knowledge and some ear training, scales, etudes and repertoire, with a particular focus on using technique and skills to give the player the greatest possible freedom. In other words, I work on technique a lot, but only because the better our technique is, the better we can make the music we hear in our heads.

Most of my students have weekly lessons, but some prefer every two weeks. All my lessons are held online, via Zoom.
